PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE RETURNING YOUR REGISTRATION TO JOIN THE 2007 VPGA JUNIOR TOUR:
Section I in The Rules of Golf is ETIQUETTE, we should all know what is written in this
section, it is the essence of what golf is: A GAME OF HONOR.
The VPGA has established a CODE OF CONDUCT for everyone who
participates in our events; it is based on what is contained in Section
I. Anyone who chooses not to follow this code will not be allowed to
participate.
ALL VERMONT PGA JUNIOR TOUR ENTRANTS SHOULD DO THE FOLLOWING:
Before Events:
Read the DEFINITIONS in the RULES OF GOLF, become
familiar with what is in the Rule Book and where certain Rules are located in
the book.
At Events:
Know the CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION (Rule 6-1 & 33-1)
Be READY TO PLAY AT YOUR ASSIGNED TEE TIME (Rule 6-3)
COUNT YOUR CLUBS before teeing off. 14 MAXIMUM ALLOWED (Rule 4-4)
Put an IDENTIFICATION MARK (Rule 6-5) on
your golf ball
Keep an ACCURATE SCORE CARD FOR YOUR FELLOW-COMPETITOR (Rule
6-6)
Play without UNDUE DELAY (Rule 6-7)
SHOW RESPECT for THE HOST COURSE, YOUR FELLOW-COMPETITORS, THE OFFICIALS and VOLUNTEERS at these events.
Finally, the Rules of Golf
are there to help you, not hurt you. Take some time to look at and become
familiar with The Rule Book, and especially to read and understand the
Definitions. This knowledge will help you in playing and enjoying this
great game. It might even save you a stroke or two, and we can all
appreciate that.
JUNIOR GOLF ETIQUETTE

Course
1.
If
someone else is playing from the tee, do not tee your ball until he/she has
played.
2.
Always
stand still and to the side of, rather than behind, another player when he or
she is
playing. Do not talk while a fellow-competitor is making a stroke.
3.
Be
ready to play when it is your turn.
4.
When
you are playing slowly or looking for a lost ball, ask the group behind you to
play
through, so you do not slow everyone down.
5.
Write
down scores on the way to the next hole, not on the green you are leaving.
6.
Never
take more than one practice swing, if any.
Safety First
Both in practice and play
always make sure that:
1. No one is near you
when you swing.
2. No one is
ahead of you where your shot might hit them.
Taking Care of the
Course
1. Always rake a
bunker after you have played from it.
2. Replace divots
and repair depressions made when your ball hits the green. These are
"Ball Marks."
