Doug Slusser is a PGA
Member and came to Basin Harbor in 2008.
His passion for the game
began early. Growing up in Akron, Ohio he was exposed to the classic
duels between Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus at the famous Firestone
Country Club.
Mentored by Frank
Wharton he developed a keen interest in striking the golf ball. His
competitive career began with junior events and progressed through
professional mini- tours and PGA sectional events as well as USGA Open
qualifying.
Doug has worked at all
types of golf facilities, public, private and resort, in a diverse
range of locations: Ohio, Florida, North Carolina and now, Vermont.
Basin Harbor Club and Resort presents a combination of all these
facilities, the best of all worlds. |

About the
Course
Established in
1927 on converted farmland, the Basin Harbor Golf Course is an 18-hole
championship course, making it a popular Vermont golf resort. Players are
treated to stunning scenery and glimpses of local wildlife. Basin Harbor
offers guests lakeside golf on the first course in the state to become a
sanctioned Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Golf Course. The program is
dedicated to preserving natural resources and enhancing wildlife habitats.
Winding through the gently rolling hills of Champlain Valley, the course
follows natural woods and open areas. At more than 6,500 yards, the
expansive and demanding course features small and medium contoured greens,
48 bunkers, and bent-grass turf. The short front nine (3,083 yards from the
blue tees) present a variety of challenging shots. The longer back nine
(3,484 yards) cater to the long ball hitter. The course and slope ratings
are 71.6 and 126. A putting green, driving range and practice fairway also
complement this Vermont golf resort.
