The Lakeland course is an excellent walking course built on the flat, rich, bottom lands that surround little Lake Pinneo and the Ottaquechee River. Water is very heavily featured here, coming into play on many holes. It is a tough test but not overly so. More demanding is the longer Highland course, which leaves the valley after nine very pleasant holes and wanders off into the hills to become almost "mountain golf". There are long carries and long fairways all to tough and slippery greens. Highland is not a walkers’ course due to its steep grades and long hauls between tees. |
